Celebration of Life Service for Rev. Dr. Joseph Bouknight, Sr.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, gave to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Dear CME Family, 

Rev. Dr. Joseph Bouknight, Sr. made his transition on December 3, 2019. His wife of 73 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Counts-Bouknight preceded him in death in 2018. He was the father of Attorney Barbara E. Bouknight, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Paine College and Interim President of the CME Connectional Trustee Ministry; Dr. Jeanette Bouknight, retired CME Executive Secretary; Rev. Joseph Bouknight, Jr. (deceased) Gloria, wife of Joseph; Micheal (Dana) Bouknight and Phillip Bouknight. 

Rev. Bouknight pastored CME churches in South Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, Alabama and Florida. He celebrated his 95th birthday on September 20, 2019.
