    Dear Lord, please comfort those in grief
    Love them, lift them, give relief
    For loss they’ve suffered, sadness felt;
    make this sorrow slowly melt.
    Lord, let happy memories ease
    creating peace like a gentle breeze, And as you help them make it through
    Draw them closer, Lord, to you.

    On Sunday, August 2, 2020, as the light of day gave way to the dark of night, the Right Reverend Bobby R. Best, presiding prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church exited the Church militant and entered the Church triumphant. There was a holy hush as Bishop Best responded to the clarion call to join the innumerable caravan moving steadily toward the mysterious realm where no travel has yet been born.

    Bob Best was a blessing to all who crossed his path. He was a consummate companion and colleague. Our friendship was essential to the soul. Now, our friend, our lord the Bishop Bobby R. Best has gone ahead to the Conference of all Conferences. He is awaiting our arrival. We will catch up with each other at the meeting around the throne.

    Until then, Friend, Brother, Servant of God well done! Rest from your loved employ, battle fought, victory won, enter our Master’s joy!

    Anointed to Serve,
    Presiding Prelate, Western Episcopal District
    African Methodist Episcopal Zion
