CME CED Church School VIRTUAL Lesson

Available for 7/17/2022

We are pleased to share with you the success of last week’s Virtual Sunday School as published by the CME Department of Christian Education & Formation. The CME CED Church School YouTube Channel Videos have been viewed over 17,000 times since we created the YouTube Channel on March 20, 2020. As committed, we offer to you this week’s Virtual Sunday School Lesson, “Conquering the Ultimate Enemy “ with Dr. Carmichael D. Crutchfield as its instructor. We welcome Dominic Buffington, who is the Regional YA President, Regional Superintendent of Sunday School, a Trustee, Steward, Media Team Leader, and a member of Bullock Temple CME Church in Little Rock, AR, offers us our prayer. We also welcome Laterra Ganaway, whosings in the choir and is a member of Bullock Temple CME Church in Little Rock, AR., who offers us our scripture reading. The video includes music, scripture, lecture, challenge, and application. It may be utilized in concert with your existing Sunday School or in substitution given the personal distancing parameters we are experiencing. For example, this video might be viewed by members in your congregations with a conference call held during the regular Sunday School period to offer facilitated discussion and review. There are CME Certified Christian Educators across the Episcopal Districts ready to offer assistance and creative solutions in concert with what we have done and are doing. Even during this crisis, we must be concerned about the spiritual needs of our congregations in addition to their physical and health needs. We welcome your feedback as we seek to expand the resources from the Department of Christian Education & Formation.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to those who have been affected by this unprecedented event affecting the world today. We especially appreciate the health care workers, local communities and government entities around the country who are working tirelessly to contain COVID-19.

Feel free to forward this email to anyone in your Sunday School circle. They may subscribe directly to this announcement by sending an email to sundayschool@thecmechurchced.org.

Save The Date

 CME World Youth Day

Date: Sunday, July 24, 2022

Theme: “Release and Be Bold”

Scripture: Acts 16:25-26

Colors: Blue, White and Athletic Gold

The Connectional Youth Ministry (CYM) invites CME local churches to celebrate CME World Youth Day” on Sunday, July 24, 2022. Traditionally, this is celebrated as Christian Youth Fellowship Day but this year…. we are making bold moves. CME World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ together with thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions. We are excited to begin this new quadrennium calling all young people (12-17) from the East Coast to the West Coast to be on one accord as we broaden our understanding of ministry to youth and seek to bring about a global impact.

It is the desire of CYM that we will “Release and Be Bold” in worship, witness, service, and outreach. Every local church, no matter the size, is asked to dedicate Sunday, July 24th to ministry opportunities for young people connected to your church and the community. But wait, there is more! As a bonus, we’re including Friday, July 22nd and Saturday, July 23rd to help facilitate more engagement. Allow youth to creatively plan every aspect of the worship, fellowship activities to connect with their peers and participate in out-reach and/or in-reach projects.

For more details and recommendations on how to celebrate CME World Youth Day, visit our website www.cmecym.org/cmeworldyouthday. Don’t forget to take pictures, write articles, partner with other CME churches, and share your experiences on social media using our hashtags #CMEWYD #CMECYM and IAMCME. We just might feature your church on our website.

We are committed to remind this generation to “Release and Be Bold”. It starts with facing now, embracing next and seeing new as young people. Join the movement!!!

#BlackChurches4Broadband Encourages Families to Sign up for Emergency Broadband (Internet) Benefit

Our hero, the late Congressman John Lewis, said that internet access is “the civil rights issue of the 21st Century.” A high-speed home broadband (internet) connection is vital for full enfranchisement in today’s world. It opens the door to educational and economic opportunities, connects family and church communities, allows access to remote health care services, and empowers greater civic engagement and activism.

Congress recently created an Emergency Broadband Benefit giving eligible families up to $50 per month to pay for home broadband service. You may be eligible for the Emergency Broadband Benefit if your household has experienced a sudden loss of income during the pandemic, or is currently receiving federal benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit, Lifeline, Pell Grants, or free and reduced-price school lunches.

Visit blackchurches4broadband.org to learn more about eligibility and how to sign up.
