The College of Bishops of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church on May 14th, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during their historic 1st ever retreat held on African soil in Accra, Ghana. They were received at the Jubilee House, the seat of government. Senior Bishop Lawrence Reddick led the Bishops to Jubilee house. Bishop Marvin Frank Thomas, Sr. said the opening prayers. Senior Bishop Reddick after the introduction of the delegation explained to His Excellency how excited the Bishops were to be in Ghana for the first time. He also made it known that they have also come before him to share their vision, reaffirm the CME church partnership in national development and celebrate the enduring bonds between the Church and the people of Ghana. The President warmly welcomed the Bishops and asked them to always choose Ghana for subsequent retreats. He also informed the Bishops of the long standing relation between the Church and State in the Republic of Ghana. He acknowledged the various roles the church has played over the years in establishing Schools, Hospitals and Training Colleges. He further suggested to the Church to consider establishing technical or vocational schools which will help prepare Ghanaian Youths for contemporary job markets. The delegation presented the minutes of the Annual Conference held in 1959 when the CME church was established in Ghana and a wall clock to His Excellency President Mahama. Bishop Ricky D. Helton said the closing prayers. This historic visit to the presidency was crowned with a group picture with His Excellency. Photos and caption by Bishop Adjei.

Greetings, Brothers, and Sisters in Christ,
Some 10 million rural African Americans lack broadband internet, primarily in the South. They cannot use such essential services as online doctor visits, church services, school assignments, family connections, and voter registration. Thankfully, the Federal Communications Commission launched the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), providing nearly 18 million low-income households nationwide with resources to pay for necessary broadband service. The ACP offers eligible families a $30 monthly discount on high-speed internet services, making access free for many participants.
Here's what you can do:
1 - Forward to pastors in your network serving rural communities the "Get Connect" Information card below with a contact number and website for guidance through signing up for the ACP program.
To Apply Call 1 (877) 384-2575 or Visit www.GetInternet.gov/apply.
2. Encourage them to visit - https://www.skinnerleaders.org/getconnected to download the "Get Connected Toolkit."
