Announcing the 2024 Unity Summit and General Connectional Board Meeting – September 1-6, 2024

 

Dear CME Members and Friends,

Senior Bishop Lawrence Reddick and First Lady Mrs. Wynde Jones Reddick and and the Eighth Episcopal District will host the Twelfth Annual CME Unity Summit and the General Connectional Board Meeting, September 2-6, 2024, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel located at 400 Olive Street in Dallas, Texas. The theme for this year's Unity Summit is, "Facing Now: Making Good Trouble." (Mark 1:15-NRSV)

The General Connectional Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2024 through Tuesday, September 3, 2024 with the travel date of September 1, 2024.. The Unity Summit is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024 through Friday, September 6, 2024.

This message will provide you with general information about registration and reserving your room at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, the tentative schedule Plan now to attend this year's Unity Summit's powerful training and vibrant worship sessions!

Keynote Speaker - Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie

We are pleased to announce that the Keynote Speaker for the Unity Summit will be Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, Retired AME Bishop and President and General Secretary of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA! Bishop McKenzie was elected and consecrated as the 117th bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2000, the first female elected to episcopal office in the more than two-century-old AME Church. She has served as presiding bishop in Southern Africa – Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique and Lesotho and in the United States in Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas. Bishop McKenzie is an ecumenical leader and has been active in social justice issues for more than three decades. Additional information about Bishop McKenzie is here.

The registration fee for the Unity Summit is $150. Members of the General Connectional Board are expected to register.  

You may register online at https://thecmechurch.org/unity-summit/ and thereafter reserve your hotel room. A receipt and hotel confirmation notice will be e-mailed to you.  Please check your Junk or Spam mailbox if you do not receive a registration confirmation notice by e-mail. To request a receipt and hotel confirmation notice, e-mail [email protected]

Mail-in Registration 

You may download a registration form and mail it in with your registration fee. Download a registration form here at the official CME Web site.

After your mailed in registration form is processed, you will receive a receipt and hotel reservation form li8nk via email.you. Please check your Junk or Spam mailbox if you do not receive a registration confirmation notice by e-mail. The group room rate at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans is $147 per room / $173.99 per night (includes taxes of $26.99).  Please plan to register and reserve your room early!
