Bishop Leon C. Moore, Jr.

10th Episcopal District

Bishop Leon C. Moore, Jr. was elected and consecrated the 71st Bishop in succession of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church during the 41st General Conference and 40th Quadrennial Session in Dallas, TX.  Bishop Moore was assigned to the Tenth Episcopal District.

A native of Michigan, Bishop Moore was born in Highland Park. He is a proud graduate of the Highland Park Public School System and was nurtured in the Christian faith at Fews Memorial C.M.E. Church in River Rouge, Michigan. He relocated to Texas, where he answered God’s call to ministry and began preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Benson Chapel C.M.E. Church and Carter Metropolitan CME in Ft. Worth, TX. He was later ordained Deacon and Elder and admitted into Full Connection under the leadership of Bishop Marshall Gilmore.

Prior to his election to the episcopacy, Bishop Moore faithfully served the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for more than three decades as a Pastor, Presiding Elder, Educator, and denominational leader. Most recently, he served eight years as General Secretary of Evangelism and Missions and as Pastor of Anderson Chapel C.M.E. Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Throughout his ministry, Bishop Moore has served numerous congregations, his leadership gifts led to appointments as Presiding Elder of the Abilene, Wichita Falls, and Amarillo Districts in the West Texas Annual Conference, Presiding Elder of the Elberton-Gainesville District in the Georgia North Annual Conference and later as Presiding Elder in the North East, Mississippi Annual Conference.

Bishop Moore’s ministry has also extended beyond the local church. He served as a Chaplain at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas and University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Additionally, he has contributed to theological and leadership development as an adjunct professor at Ohio Christian University’s Morrow, Georgia campus.

A dedicated servant-leader, Bishop Moore has served on numerous boards and organizations, including Phillips School of Theology, Breeding Montgomery Bible College (Nigeria), World Methodist Evangelism, Sabri Capital, World Methodist Evangelism Institute at Candler School of Theology and more.

Bishop Moore’s commitment to excellence in ministry is reflected in his academic achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Texas College (Tyler, Texas) and Master of Arts in Christian Counseling, Tyndale College Community Confidence Center (Fort Worth, Texas), Master of Theology, Phillips School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center (Atlanta, Georgia), and Doctor of Ministry, United Theological Seminary (Dayton, Ohio)

He is the Founder and President of New Life Faith Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving elderly individuals and children in underserved and oppressed communities. Bishop Moore is passionate about evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, missions, and church growth.

He is married to the former Tiffany Reed, and together they are the proud parents of five children: Jeffery, Alexus, Ashton, La Quethia, and Asia. They are also blessed with three grandsons: Kennedy Jr., Ismail, and Julius.

Through faithful service, visionary leadership, and a steadfast commitment to Christ and His Church, Bishop Dr. Leon C. Moore Jr. continues to inspire and equip believers for effective ministry around the world.
