Connectional Clinical Pastoral Education (CCPE) Program

Connectional Clinical Pastoral Education Program, an educational experience for ministers and laypersons of all denominations to enhance their professional pastoral skills and personal development but are unable to be in a traditional CPE program due to time or other restrictions. It also enables probationary ministers in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) to meet the requirement of one unit of CPE for full connection clergy membership. This unique program brings ministers from across the country together and in small groups for interactive, reflective learning using their own community and place of ministry as the context.

The focus of this CPE program is on ministry in the congregation. Participants must have an approved place of ministry in order to complete the required hours in ministry each month of the program. The recommendation of a presiding bishop or supervising pastor is required as well. In addition to the ministry hours, attendance at all sessions is required.

There will be written assignments, readings and some internet-based assignments. The program operates under the auspices of the Academy for Public Theology through the Office of the CME Endorser. The faculty is comprised of certified CPE Supervisors and certified professional chaplains.

TUITION is $550, which includes $50 non-refundable application fee, a $150 deposit once accepted into the program and a balance of $350 payable before the program begins. The tuition includes the required books. There is currently no scholarship program, however a payment plan can be arranged.

SIGN UP FOR POLL CHAPLAIN /PEACEKEEPER TRAINING

Greetings!

n less than five months, Americans will exercise one of the most important rights of citizenship, the precious right to vote. Sadly, anti-voting laws recently enacted will make it harder for many to vote. This is wrong! It violates diverse faith traditions and core values held by people of conscience. But you can do something about it!

Become a Faiths United to Save Democracy

Poll Chaplain / Peacekeeper

Signup now at www.TurnOutSunday.com

Faiths United to Save Democracy (FUSD) believes that everyone is created in the image of God and deserves to vote in free, fair, and safe elections. With violence threatened at the polls in many states during the 2024 Elections, our multi-faith, multi-racial, intergenerational poll chaplains (ordained and lay leaders) and peacekeepers will help provide a calming and moral presence to vulnerable voters, such as the elderly, disabled, youth, and other disenfranchised citizens. (Genesis 1.27; Matthew 5:9).

Poll Chaplains / Peacekeepers are committed to serving in FUSD priority polling sites in designated cities in AL, AZ, FL, GA, MI, NC, OH, PA, TX, and WI. Preference is given to high-priority polling sites in areas of greatest need during early voting and election day (November 5).

TRAINING DATES: July 15, 22; August 12, 26; September 9, 16, 30 TIMES: Mondays: 7:8:30 pm ET.

PLEASE NOTE: FUSD will only certify and provide identification, polling assignments, and ground support for those who sign up to serve as Poll Chaplains or peacekeepers in priority states and polling locations.

 GUIDELINES:

  • Poll Chaplains / Peacekeepers include ordained and lay leaders.
  • FUSD does not provide transportation or stipends to volunteer Poll Chaplain / Peacekeepers.
  • FUSD requests 6-hour shifts per volunteer, with time preferences to be indicated during early voting and election day sign-up.
  • FUSD encourages a “buddy system” where volunteers may complete the training together and be assigned to the same polling site.
  • FUSD is working with diverse national partners on the Poll Chaplain / Peacekeeper campaign to protect vulnerable voters.

FAITH AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OUTSIDE FUSD PRIORITY STATES AND POLLING SITES: Those outside the ten FUSD priority states may attend the FUSD Poll Chaplain / Peacekeeper Training and utilize 1866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683) for support during early voting and election day. However, they will not be FUSD certified, receive identification, or be assigned to polling sites.

Blessings,

Dr. Barbara Williams-Skinner, Coordinator, Faiths United to Save Democracy (FUSD)

GET CONNECTED CAMPAIGN

Greetings, Brothers, and Sisters in Christ,

Some 10 million rural African Americans lack broadband internet, primarily in the South. They cannot use such essential services as online doctor visits, church services, school assignments, family connections, and voter registration. Thankfully, the Federal Communications Commission launched the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), providing nearly 18 million low-income households nationwide with resources to pay for necessary broadband service. The ACP offers eligible families a $30 monthly discount on high-speed internet services, making access free for many participants.

Here’s what you can do:

1 – Forward to pastors in your network serving rural communities the “Get Connect” Information card below with a contact number and website for guidance through signing up for the ACP program.

To Apply Call 1 (877) 384-2575 or Visit www.GetInternet.gov/apply.

2. Encourage them to visit – https://www.skinnerleaders.org/getconnected to download the “Get Connected Toolkit.”
